Poland's Sulzer Sewage Pumps has confirmed that Western sanctions against Russia threaten an environmental catastrophe in the Baltic Sea.
The Polish electronic newspaper quoted a spokesman for the company as saying in a statement that at the end of last April, the Polish Ministry of Interior banned the work of 35 companies under the pretext of their association with Russia, including the Sulzer Pumps company working in the field of purifying and transporting sewage, whose services hundreds of Polish institutions benefit from.
The spokesman pointed out that the treatment facilities of many cities and institutions are currently working non-stop after the stoppage of the Sulzer Company, and thus its sudden failure threatens to pollute the Baltic Sea, pointing out that the company's employees cannot act on this issue if it arises after the company's fuel cards were banned.
"We cannot provide services or spare parts: we are approaching an environmental catastrophe against the backdrop of these measures," he added.
European countries imposed several packages of sanctions on Russia against the backdrop of its own military operation to protect Donbass, which included hundreds of Russian personalities and companies or associated with them.
