Architects Daniel Strasburger and Hagai Ben Naim won first prize in a competition held to design the Rambam Square complex in the city.


Architects Daniel Strasburger and Hagai Ben Naim won first prize in the public competition for the design of the "Square and Municipality Complex" in Ramat Gan.

The competition was organized by the Ramat Gan Municipality, the Ramat Gan Economic Development Company and the Association of Architects and Urban Builders in Israel. 

As part of the competition, the participating architects were asked to design a building that would be used for the Ramat Gan municipal offices and public institutions, a performance hall and commercial areas.

The defined goal is to include planning that will contribute to strengthening Rambam Square as a vibrant urban square, which will serve as an anchor and urban center in the Old City center.   

The jury included the mayor of Raj, Carmel Shama-Hacohen, the architect Renana Yardeni, who chaired the jury, city engineer Shai Alluf and members of the city council. The winners of the competition received a prize of NIS 60,000.

From the judges' reasons for winning: "A project that analyzes well and systematically the urban aspects of the project and formulates a proposal that fits well in place, while thoroughly meeting the requirements of the competition program. A worthy urban square and also a significant campus. The offer is comprehensive and sensitive. It enriches the place with a variety of uses. "

Victor Abacis, acting chairman of the Association of Architects and Urban Builders, noted that the association regrets the issue of quality in planning in Israel and that the purpose of the association's competitions with local authorities and public and private bodies is to encourage quality and architectural creativity in Israel.
