Since the outbreak of the Ukraine war, Ukraine has been striving more and more towards the European Union - so far without any significant success.
While other states applied for NATO membership against the background of the Russian invasion, the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphatically confirmed his country's desire to become a member of the EU.
He is counting on Ukraine's candidate status within the coming weeks, the head of state of Ukraine said on Monday.
"I mean, this will not only be a decision for Ukraine, but for the whole European project."
According to Zelensky, the decision as to whether Ukraine will become part of the EU will also determine whether the EU as a whole has a future or not.
The EU Commission wants to decide in June how to proceed with the ambitions of the country attacked by Russia.
Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD), or the federal government, has not yet positioned itself on the issue.
However, Scholz had made it clear that there should be no shortcuts for Ukraine on the way to the EU.
As reported by the German Press Agency, Ukraine sees the fight against Vladimir Putin as sufficient qualification.
Wolfgang Kubicki under criticism: FDP veteran Gerhart Baum blames politicians for election defeats
Harsh criticism: Since the traffic light coalition came into existence, members of the FDP have repeatedly caused internal disputes on government issues.
First and foremost is Wolfgang Kubicki, who also took a clear position against the plans of the federal government on the subject of general vaccination.

FDP veteran Gerhart Baum has now commented on the dispute to the

RND.
According to Baum, the liberal politics of the past two years have not always sufficiently taken into account the party's orientation towards the common good.
The FDP politician referred to decisions that made the lockdown in 2020 possible.
The FDP's course would also have resulted in the party losing votes in past elections.
Baum sees particular responsibility for this course at Kubicki.
This would therefore also be one of the election losers in Schleswig-Holstein.
