In some regional trains, the 9-euro ticket is invalid, now there are exceptions to the exception.

Where the monthly ticket is now valid and where not.

Berlin – The 9-euro ticket for bus and train is still causing a lot of irritation a few days after it was launched: After the train recently announced that the discounted ticket should not be valid on all regional public transport trains, it has now changed again slightly changed: there are exceptions to the exceptions.

The most recently published list of regional trains on which the ticket is not valid is no longer up to date.

In which connections the discounted ticket is still invalid and where the ticket, which is also available via the DB Navigator, is now valid - an overview.

9-euro ticket invalid: Inexpensive monthly ticket is not valid on numerous routes

Deutsche Bahn recently announced that the 9-euro ticket was invalid on certain regional public transport trains.

Now there have been new agreements for some of these connections, which means in concrete terms that they now fall within the scope of the discounted monthly ticket.

However, this still does not apply to all connections: the 9-euro ticket is still not permitted on some regional trains.

Transport associations also appeal to rail passengers to exercise caution and to behave leniently towards fellow passengers due to the high number of passengers.

The route Stuttgart Hbf - Singen (Hohentwiel) - Konstanz, i.e. the so-called "Gäubahn" route, is now also within the scope of the ticket.

The ticket is also valid from now on in the IC and D trains marked as RE on the Letmathe – Dillenburg route, with the exception of the following ICs: IC 2221, IC 2227, IC 2228, IC 2321 and IC 2322. There is another change on the route Bredstedt - Westerland (Sylt).

This connection can now also be used as the Sylt-ShuttlePlus with the 9-euro ticket for bus and train.

Conversely, this means that all other connections previously published by Deutsche Bahn still do not fall within the scope of the monthly ticket.

9-euro ticket invalid: Which trains can you travel on with the 9-euro ticket?

The ticket is no longer valid on some trains

The 9-euro ticket for bus and train from the relief package 2022 drastically reduces the use of public transport for a short time.

After politicians had agreed to temporarily offer a monthly public transport ticket at a low price that can be used nationwide in local transport, many travelers are currently irritated.

There are still exceptions - and now even exceptions to them.

Many consumers ask themselves the question: Which trains can you travel on with the 9-euro ticket?

Deutsche Bahn recently announced that the monthly ticket was invalid on several regional trains.

This concerns IC route sections on which other local transport tickets are valid.

With the 9-euro ticket, people have been able to travel across the country since June 1st, despite the supposed general validity in local transport, caution is advised.

Deutsche Bahn describes the situation as follows: “The 9-euro ticket is not valid on trains operated by DB Fernverkehr AG (e.g. IC, EC, ICE), even if other local transport tickets are valid on long-distance trains .” The problem here: When searching for connections in the app, there is currently no filter to only display DB regional trains.

If you take a closer look at the Deutsche Bahn navigator app, you will see the label "9-euro ticket not valid".

Critics complain about the poor overview.

You have to look carefully: Even with the 9-euro ticket, it is important to avoid costly traps.

Some routes are currently being readjusted.

The 9-euro ticket, which has been valid since June 1st, continues to cause a stir, and consumers have recently been annoyed on the Internet.

A Twitter user had written before the ticket started: "Sorry, you still don't seem to understand that outside the bubble nobody knows the difference between DB FV and DB Regio.

And in particular those who are supposed to be attracted by the ticket.

That's going to be a lot of frustration.

You can't just blame politics for that."

9-euro ticket in Lower Saxony: Connection Bremen-Norddeich Mole cannot be used with the discounted ticket

Among the route sections on which the 9-euro ticket for bus and train is not valid is a connection between Bremen and Lower Saxony.

The railway has stated that the IC route section Bremen-Norddeich Mole cannot be used with the discounted ticket.

But there is hope: Deutsche Bahn recently announced that talks are currently being held between it and the federal states about possible regional regulations.

There are first results, we can hope for more.

In plain language, this means that the area of validity of the 9-euro ticket has not yet been finally clarified.

It is possible that this will also be extended to the Bremen-Norddeich Mole connection.

For the time being, however, travelers must be careful when choosing their connection.
