Prosecutor Marcelo Pecci, who was investigating Colombian crime syndicates, met his end on his honeymoon.

The murder suspects are now coming to Bogotá.

Bogotá - The five suspects arrested in Colombia after the murder of a prominent Paraguayan mafia investigator are being held in custody in a maximum security prison in the Colombian capital Bogotá.

This emerged from a statement by the Colombian public prosecutor on Tuesday (local time).

Accordingly, four of the suspects admitted the allegations.

A suspected donor denied the allegations.

Shot dead on honeymoon

Paraguayan mafia investigator Marcelo Pecci was shot dead in May while on his honeymoon on the Barú peninsula near the port city of Cartagena in Colombia.

The attackers approached Pecci and his wife on jet skis and fired at least three shots at the prosecutor.

The suspects said, according to prosecutors, that they were able to locate Pecci thanks to posts on social networks.

Pecci was one of the lead prosecutors in a major drug trafficking and money laundering case against crime syndicates in the South American country.

A number of criminal organizations are active in Paraguay.

There was also a connection to Paraguay when the record find was made in February last year in the port of Hamburg.

The approximately 16 tons of cocaine had been shipped to Germany in containers from Paraguay.
