A bus in Düsseldorf has been taken out of service with defects.

The bus was supposed to take students on an excursion – but nothing came of it.

Düsseldorf – That could have ended badly: the police checked a coach in Düsseldorf that had “obvious defects in the brake system”.

According to the police, some security systems could have failed as a result.

Dusseldorf: school trip canceled – because the bus may have been defective

On Tuesday (June 7th), a school in Düsseldorf-Kalkum had planned an excursion for several students, reports 24RHEIN.

With three coaches it should go to Xanten in the district of Wesel for one day.

But for many children nothing came of it in the end, even if it was possibly for their own good.

Because police officers noticed a fault in the control system of the braking system during a check.

In addition to a so-called "visual inspection", the safety-relevant control systems were also read out.

The defects in the brakes were noticed by a fault that was visible on the dashboard of the coach.

An indication that the vehicle's brake pads may have either reached or already exceeded their wear limit.

But not only that: "With the type of error displayed, it could not be ruled out that the safety systems ESP and ABS could also fail," says the police.

Defective coach in Düsseldorf: the driver ignored the warning

And what about the driver of the coach?

Apparently, he simply ignored the error message in his cockpit display, the police said.

He explained to the officials that he had already reported the worn brakes to his employer - but then drove off anyway.

Apparently there was already an appointment in the workshop, but probably only after the school class' trip.

A school trip in Bedburg recently ended with a fright: a student capsized a boat.

The police did not allow the bus journey and only slowly allowed the driver to drive to the nearest workshop.

So there was no field trip for a class of the school.

Both the driver and the owner of the coach now expect a fine procedure.
