Former US President Donald Trump and two of his adult children, Donald Trump Jr. and Ivanka Trump, have agreed to testify about his business practices in a New York State investigation.
This is according to a court document.
New York State Attorney General Letitia James said that in her more than three-year investigation, she found evidence that the Trump Organization — which manages hotels, golf courses and other properties around the world — misrepresented asset valuations to get cheap credit and tax breaks.
The Trumps had initially declined to testify
The settlement came after an intermediary state appeals court denied the Trumps' motion to have the testimony dismissed.
Trump and his children had argued that testifying in the civil inquest violated their constitutional rights because their testimony could be used in a related criminal investigation led by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.
The Trumps are scheduled to testify beginning July 15 — but have until June 13 to ask the New York State Supreme Court, the Court of Appeals, for a further stay of testimony.
Republican Trump has denied wrongdoing and described the investigation as politically motivated - James is a Democrat.
