Five soldiers were killed today in an armed attack in western Cameroon.
"The heavily armed gunmen attacked the gendarmerie checkpoint in the Ngitabon area of the Noun division of the region, killing five Cameroonian soldiers," Xinhua quoted the district's governor, Augustine Awa Fonka, as saying.
It is noteworthy that government forces have been clashing with armed men since 2017 in two regions of Cameroon, in the northwest and southwest.
