The World Health Organization announced that more than a thousand cases of monkeypox have been recorded in 29 countries where this disease is not endemic, warning that the risk of spreading the disease in non-endemic countries has become a reality.
Today, Sputnik quoted the head of the organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, as saying: “More than 1,000 confirmed cases of monkeypox have been reported to the World Health Organization from 29 countries where this disease is not endemic, explaining that so far no deaths have been reported in these countries.”
It is noteworthy that monkeypox is a rare viral disease that is usually transmitted to humans from wild animals and is endemic in some African countries and its symptoms include fever, rash and swollen lymph nodes.
