Wheat harvesting continues in Hama governorate in the lands under the supervision of the General Authority for the Management and Development of the Forest and the Hama Agriculture Directorate for the current season, as the harvested area has reached about 22 thousand hectares.

The Director of Plant Wealth at the Al-Ghab Development Authority, Engineer Wafiq Zaroof, told SANA that the total harvested area of ​​wheat reached 15,000 hectares, while the quantity marketed to the grain receiving centers exceeded 17,000 tons, indicating that the harvesting and marketing of the wheat crop to the Syrian grain purchasing centers are proceeding at a pace. high without any obstacles.

He pointed out that the quantities produced from rainfed lands in the Al-Ghab region fell below expectations due to the lack of rain during the month of April, while production is expected to be better in the irrigated lands, pointing to the availability of harvesters operating in the various departments of the authority and were supplied with diesel according to the quantity determined by the agricultural committee in the governorate.

In turn, the assistant director of Hama Agriculture, Dr. Sattam Al-Khalil, indicated in a similar statement that the area harvested with wheat in the lands under the supervision of the work of the Directorate of Agriculture amounted to about seven thousand hectares, most of it in rain-fed lands, expecting that the pace of harvest will increase during the next week due to the harvest of irrigated lands, which constitutes a good percentage. of the total cultivated area this season.
