Two people die from gunshot wounds in a discount store in Schwalmstadt, North Hesse.

A man fired the fatal shots.

Update from June 8, 7:06 a.m

.: A man (58) first killed a woman (53) and then himself. The fatal shots in an Aldi in Schwalmstadt fell on Tuesday around 1 p.m.

The background to the fact is initially still unclear.

The police and public prosecutor initially gave no information about the relationship between the two dead and their origin.

reports, citing an eyewitness, a man initially followed a woman in an Aldi branch.

When she called for help, the man reportedly shot the woman before turning the gun on himself.

.: Shots were fired at around 1 p.m. in an Aldi discounter in Schwalmstadt in northern Hesse.

Alerted emergency services found two dead in the market.

According to the statements of witnesses, a man (58) shot a woman (53) in the supermarket and then apparently took his own life, the police said.

After initial investigations, the police have ruled out third-party involvement.

During the operation, the police announced via Twitter that there was no danger to other people or the population.

Other people were not harmed according to current investigative findings.

The investigation would continue at full speed.

The crime scene was cordoned off.
