Without luggage on vacation?

Some people currently have to do without suitcases, as 1,700 pieces of luggage remained on the ground at Nuremberg Airport.

Nuremberg – In Turkey and Mallorca, some vacationers are currently eagerly waiting for their luggage.

Because suitcase chaos reigns at Nuremberg Airport: 1,700 pieces of luggage stayed in the Franconian metropolis over the Pentecost weekend instead of flying with their owners.

The reason for the chaos is the rush to the airport during the Pentecost holidays, as BR reports.

There was also a malfunction in the baggage sorting system.

Little by little, the suitcases are being flown after their owners.

"Of course, there is also less capacity available on the planes, so the luggage is transported piece by piece in all possible free gaps," explains airport spokesman Christian Albrecht to BR.

Accordingly, "a large part of the missing luggage has now been sent" or has already arrived at its owners at the holiday destination.

The airport has even set up a missing luggage ticker, which holidaymakers can use to check whether their suitcases are already on their way.

Albrecht Dürer Airport asks "sorry for the inconvenience."

Nuremberg Airport: Those affected should report to "Lost & Found".

Apparently, the airport assumed that the disruption to the baggage sorting system would be resolved quickly.

Check-in went on as planned.

However, the suitcases piled up.

"And at some point the decision will be made and then the plane will unfortunately take off without luggage," says airport spokesman Albrecht to BR.

Anyone who is affected should contact the Lost & Found service at the destination airport or, in the case of package tours, the local representative of the tour operator, according to the airport website.
