Penzberg – The Penzberger Berghalde will become a Mecca for vintage car fans: there will be another big meeting at the weekend (June 11/12).

It's been a long time: The last meeting of the historic vehicles took place in Penzberg in 2019.

Then came the pandemic with its restrictions.

Now those active in the vintage car division at the local AMC Penzberg are looking forward to rattling, smoking and puffing on the Berghalde again.

The 26th classic car meeting is just around the corner.

Appearance in 2011: Helmut Schmidtner with his Fendt F9 Dieselroß from 1936 including a side mower.

From very old to youngtimer

Helmut Schmidtner is again busy with the organization.

Although he doesn't have to do it all alone. "We have several youngsters with us," he says.

The Penzberger has up to 40 members in the organization team, for construction and the event itself.

The meeting has a good tradition in Penzberg.

The proud owners and drivers of the historic vehicles always came from far and wide.

“Several hundred have always been there,” Schmidtner looks back.

The range of attractions was large.

"From the very old vehicle to the 1970s," lists Schmidtner.

"We are also happy about youngtimers." Of course he himself was there with a vehicle.

So in 2011 with a true rarity: Schmidtner, a trained master locksmith, had repaired a Fendt F9 from 1936.

With type plate number 3049 - the 49th tractor that was built in the Allgäu at that time.

Schmidtner does not yet know what he will bring with him this time.

Maybe a Viktoria combination, an 1899 motor carriage. Or the 1906 Griffon motorcycle.
