The president will explain the details of the program at the IX Summit of the Americas taking place in Los Angeles. The objective is to cooperate to avoid crises such as the coronavirus.

Within the framework of the IX Summit of the Americas, which takes place in Los Angeles, the president, Joe Biden, will announce this Wednesday an initiative to help the countries of Central and South America to have an action plan for future pandemics and public emergencies.

The Government's objective is to create a health body that will train 500,000 health workers in the next five years that will include medical professionals with an investment of 100 million dollars.

The plan will be fully implemented by 2030, as announced by the White House, and contemplates continuing to strengthen vaccination against COVID-19 in the region, supporting the creation of mobile units and strengthening information to strengthen confidence in vaccines.

The plan also plans to create an early warning system for dengue with the creation of a system of associations in Costa Rica and other countries.

In addition, support will be provided to laboratories.

More than 2.7 million people lost their lives due to COVID-19 in Latin America and the Caribbean, which represents more than 40% of the deaths registered worldwide.

The Summit of the Americas brings together most of the region's leaders and this year the United States is the host amid controversy over the absence of several leaders, including Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, who declined the invitation because Biden excluded Venezuela, Cuba and Nicaragua.

The pandemic and migration are two of the key issues at the meeting.
