The traffic blocks along federal highway 2 at the site of the train accident on Friday, June 3, 2022 were lifted in these minutes.

The B2 federal highway and the Farchant tunnel have already been reopened to traffic in the southbound direction (Garmisch-Partenkirchen).

In the north direction (Munich), the closure is expected to be lifted in the course of the next hour.

Last Friday, a regional train derailed near Burgrain on the Garmisch-Partenkirchen railway line towards Munich.

Now the Munich public prosecutor's office is routinely investigating three Deutsche Bahn employees on suspicion of negligent homicide.

As previously reported, 44 people were injured in the train accident.

A 34-year-old woman remains in critical condition.

Five people, four adult women and one teenager, lost their lives.

The identities are now beyond doubt.

The teenager is a 13-year-old from the district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

Two other victims, two women with Ukrainian nationality aged 30 and 39, also lived in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district until the end.

Among the victims are also a 51-year-old from Wiesbaden and a 70-year-old woman from the Munich district.

The investigators of the Soko "Zug" and the salvage organizations tirelessly continued their work over Pentecost.

Everything is now being done to clarify the cause that led to the devastating accident near Burgrain on Friday afternoon.

Rails and chassis are the focus of the investigations.

The Munich public prosecutor's office is also investigating three Deutsche Bahn employees on suspicion of negligent homicide.

Such investigations are part of the routine after train accidents.

In the meantime, the salvage work could be advanced.

The control car was lifted back onto the track by means of the rail crane that had been explicitly requested and could thus be driven away in a northerly direction.

Cars two, three and four have since been removed.

The locomotive and wagon one will remain at the scene of the accident for an indefinite period of time as further investigations are required.

The closure of the A 95 motorway at the Sindelsdorf exit in the southbound direction was lifted today, Tuesday, June 7, at around 9:00 a.m.

The federal highway 2 at the level of the accident site and the two connected tunnels Oberau and Farchant will probably remain completely closed until tomorrow, Wednesday, June 8th, inclusive, due to repair work.
