Kitesurfing is coming to Qatar: the government body responsible for promoting tourism, Qatar Tourism, has just formalized a partnership with the organizer of international competitions for this board sport, the Global Kitesports Association (GKA).
As such, Qatar Tourism becomes the official partner of the organizer for a period of three years.
In the process, the emirate announced the opening of a new seaside resort dedicated to the practice of kitesurfing.
Sport to attract tourists
Located in Fuwayrit, 90 kilometers north of Doha, this new hotel establishment will welcome water sports enthusiasts in the course of 2022. The presence of strong winds and the sea make this coastal village an ideal place for the practice of this increasingly popular discipline among tourists: "
Kitesurfing is a sport that invites you to travel and through which people in search of adventure practice their passion in beautiful destinations on several continents of the world
" said Qatar Tourism Group Chairman Akbar Al Baker.
The resort will be located 90 kilometers north of Qatar's capital, Doha.
Qatar Tourism
Tourism is a real challenge for Qatar.
The country has invested heavily in the organization of sporting events in recent years: the Formula 1 Qatar Grand Prix, the Doha tennis tournament and of course the Football World Cup, which is scheduled to take place from November to December 2022. With these investments and this strategy, the emirate aims to welcome more than six million visitors per year by 2030.
