Must give way: The demolition of the longitudinal building on the school grounds in Bad Wiessee has begun.

This is where the new daycare center is being built, which will cost the municipality around twelve million euros.

The municipality of Bad Wiessee is repositioning itself when it comes to childcare - and is now getting down to concrete implementation: the preparatory work for the construction of the new day-care center on the school premises has just begun.

The groundbreaking ceremony will follow in mid-July.

Bad Wiessee - Tight planning and a bit of luck have contributed to the fact that the construction of the million-dollar day care center next to the Wiesse elementary school can start on time.

According to Martin Brugger, all shell construction work was awarded by the technical building authority, and offers were received for all orders.

And so far, the cost calculation for the new building project, which costs around twelve million euros, has apparently also worked out.

"We're on target," says Brugger.

New daycare center Bad Wiessee also gets apartments

The following is planned: A three-part structure will be built on the site of the elementary school – mainly in the area of the current hard court.

Five crèche groups are to be accommodated there on the ground floor, and four kindergarten groups will find their new home on the first floor.

Apartments for future employees are also being considered: a total of nine apartments are planned for the top floor.

The community wants to solve two problems with the project: On the one hand, the ailing Maria Himmelfahrt kindergarten needs to be replaced anyway, and on the other hand, new childcare places are urgently needed due to the exploding demand.

In addition, there will be a spacious parking area with 47 parking spaces and a "Kiss & Ride area".

In order to create something new, however, the old must first give way.

The long building to the south of the hard square, which used to house a crèche group, has to be demolished.

The sports field itself is also being dismantled and is later to be replaced by a new sports facility at a different location.

The excavators will start work these days, as Brugger announced when asked.

The container facility, which temporarily serves as a nativity scene, will remain standing.

The school children's playground will be smaller as a result of the construction work, but - as Brugger explains - the children could use the garden of the after-school care center.

New daycare center in Bad Wiessee is scheduled to open in May 2024

The project is based on a tight schedule.

"The first target is to get the roof truss up by December this year," says Brugger.

The completion of the new day care center is scheduled for May 2024.

Parallel to the construction work, the community is currently thinking about the future heat supply for the day care center and school.

As recently became clear at a meeting of the Committee for Climate Protection, the raw material wood will probably be used here.

A system for pellets or wood chips is under discussion.

The extensive construction work for children who come to school by bike brings with it restrictions.

The way to school along the construction site is closed to cyclists and pedestrians with immediate effect and probably until the end of May 2024.

Those affected have to dodge other routes, such as Hagngasse.

In principle, it is important to the municipality that children can continue to cycle to school in the future.

Basically, according to a press release from the town hall, it is still possible to park the bicycles in the western schoolyard ("Radlhof").

In addition, temporary parking facilities would be created in the northern area of the school grounds.
