Ice cream parlor owners are also increasing their prices this summer due to recent developments.

But they also have delicious new varieties in their luggage.

Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen - The temperatures are rising - and with the sun comes the desire for a cool scoop of ice cream.

That's why tempting refreshments in different flavors are waiting at every corner of the Tölzer Land - from creamy-sweet vanilla to sour lemon sorbet.

If you want to treat yourself to an ice cream this summer, however, you have to dig deeper into your pocket.

Because the ice cream parlor owners have also screwed up their prices.

The reasons include increased raw material prices and energy costs.

Good weather keeps the profit and cost scales in balance

In the Venezia ice cream parlor in Lenggries, Lukas Grandesso has increased the price for a scoop from 1.30 to 1.40 euros.

He currently offers 31 types of ice cream, with apple pie ice cream being a specialty.

He attributes the increase to high electricity, oil, gas and food prices.

“Thanks to the good weather, however, the profit and cost scales remain in balance.

However, it can be observed that people are spending less money,” says Grandesso.

Ice cream "Bad Tölz" lures in the market street with Amarena and brittle sprinkles

Ivan and Zorica Martin, who run the Garda ice cream parlor on Marktstrasse in Bad Tölz, also notice that many are “on the back burner”.

They offer 25 varieties.

The specialty here is the "Bad Tölz" ice cream with amarena, brittle sprinkles and many other ingredients.

"The ice is as different as our Tölzer," says Martin.

Price increase for the ice cream ball was "foreseeable"

They increased the price per ball from 1.30 to 1.50 euros last year.

"The price increase was foreseeable," says Martin.

The energy costs are still to be shouldered due to the "moderate" prices of the public utility company.

One problem, however, is that there are no longer any plastic spoons, cups or straws.

"It's good for the environment, but the new material is five times as expensive," Martin points out.

Increased energy prices have an impact

Gino and Rosina Pisellucci only use natural products when making their ice cream.

In their ice cream parlor Cristallino on Fritzplatz in Bad Tölz you can choose between 36 types of ice cream for 1.70 euros.

They too had to raise the price by 20 cents.

"Everything gets expensive," explains Pisellucci.

In particular, pistachios, cream and milk are affected.

"Here, the prices have even risen by 30 percent."

"After all, ice has to be cooled and cappuccino heated up," says the owner.

New this year at the Cristallino: the "Elixir" variety - an orange ice cream with alpine herbs

This year they have two new varieties in their repertoire.

"Goldene Milch", an ice cream with ginger, and "Elixir", an orange ice cream with alpine herbs, explains the Italian.

The “Valle Dei Templi” variety with pistachios and almonds remains the absolute hit.

"We've even won a championship with it, the 'Gelato World Tour 2019'," he says proudly.

A few meters away in the "Grangelato" on Marktstrasse, Heliton Geraldi has also raised prices.

Per ball from 1.40 euros to 1.50.

You can choose from a total of 28 varieties this season.

“Blue cotton candy” sells like hot cakes in Benediktbeuern

Ottilie Leopoldsberger has increased the price of a ball from 1.30 to 1.50 euros in her ice cream parlor in Benediktbeuern.

She was based on the prices of the other ice cream parlors.

"But nobody has complained so far", the owner of "Otti's Eis- und Cafégarten" is relieved.

She has a total of 20 variants of the sweet summer classic on offer.

"There are mainly the varieties that children like." The most popular among the little ones is their creation "Blue Candy Floss".

"It sells like hot cakes," says Leopoldsberger and laughs.

A price increase must also be expected for this product

Even if customers accept the price increase in order to enjoy a scoop or two of gelato in the sun, it is to be feared that it will not be the last price increase.

At least that's what Karl-Otto Volkland, the operator of the Café Karlotti on Tölzer Badstraße, thinks.

Because he had already experienced something similar with another popular product.

"Our supplier has increased coffee for the second time this year, and that won't be the last either," he surmises.

Blood orange, chocolate crunch banana and elderberry are new in "Karlotti"

In the "Karlotti" a scoop now costs 20 cents more.

Sweets lovers can choose from 16 varieties for EUR 1.50.

New are blood orange, chocolate crunch banana and elderberry.

However, the construction site next door caused him much greater problems because he feared that customers might stay away.

So far, however, he has not been able to determine a decline in ice cream consumption.

"A little ice cream is always good," is his motto.
