Anticipation on the construction site: Unpacked shop in Poing will open in two weeks

In two weeks, the first unpackaged shop will open near the market square in Poing.

Preparations are in full swing and there is great anticipation on the construction site.

Poing – Great euphoria can already be felt, although the rooms are still in the middle of being renovated: Annika Krätschmer smiles again and again and, with outstretched arms, shows what is to come when she says sentences like: “We’ll put another sofa here ', 'there will be fresh vegetables in the entrance area' or 'we will have almost 20 types of pasta'.

The 31-year-old will manage the unpacked shop of the Poing Unverpackt initiative, which was founded on July 28, 2021 and is now registered as a cooperative.

At the end of June, less than a year after it was founded, the “bunte bOHNE” unpackaged shop will open.

In the rooms next to the senior center on Marktstraße, where a tanning studio used to be.

The preparations are in full swing, about 45 people from Poing and the surrounding area are volunteering to help – with screws, hammers, dowels, building shelves, painting walls, preparing old furniture for the café and and and.

When Maria Lindner (31), chairwoman of Poing Unverpackt, lists all of this, she smiles too – proud and happy to be close to the big goal within a year.

Regional and fair goods will be available in the first unpackaged store in Poing, announce Krätschmer and Lindner.

The range extends from coffee and pasta to spices, a deli counter with cheese, muesli and everyday items such as cleaning supplies and cosmetics.

Everything is made to do without packaging.

Instead, customers take containers with them and fill their desired products.

Integrated into the shop is a café with around 20 seats inside and outside, where there are homemade cakes.

Poing: opening ceremony on June 25th

Despite the ongoing construction site, the unpacked shop is now open twice a week: on Saturdays and Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., vouchers can be bought for future purchases or as gifts.

The shop and café will open at the end of June, with the opening ceremony on Saturday 25 June.

Opening hours from June 27th: Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

According to chairman Maria Lindner, the Poing Unverpackt initiative currently has over 160 members.
