In national hands, and at a cost of 3 billion Syrian pounds, the Ministry of Electricity has today installed the Al-Rastan 66-20 KV substation.

It was in service in the northern countryside of Homs after it was completely rehabilitated, as it went out of service in 2013 after it was destroyed and sabotaged by terrorism.

The Minister of Electricity, Eng. Ghassan Al-Zamil, indicated in a statement to reporters that the rehabilitation of the Rastan substation, which was carried out by national cadres at a cost of 3 billion Syrian pounds, is part of a plan set by the ministry to rehabilitate what was destroyed by terrorism. Great numbers to rehabilitate the stations destroyed by terrorism and put them into service.

Al-Zamil indicated that the ministry has many works, including the Aleppo thermal station, which will be put into service soon, and the Latakia power station, which will be put into service at the end of this year, in addition to securing electric power to feed wells and water pumping stations.

Al-Zamil pointed to the great difficulties facing the electricity sector as a result of the practices of the SDF militia backed by the US occupation in the Syrian Al-Jazirah region, which is considered a real reservoir of oil derivatives.

Eng. Fawaz Al-Daher, Director of the Electricity Transmission and Distribution Corporation, pointed out the importance of rehabilitating the Al-Rastan substation due to the difficulty of securing electrical power in Hama Governorate.

The Director of the General Electricity Company of Homs, Engineer Bassam Al-Rifai, pointed out that the station will ensure good electrical stability in the area, after suffering from interruptions and major malfunctions.

Dr. Bashar Al-Mousa from the Public Authority for Electricity Transmission “Tanfeeth Al-Wusta” indicated that the process of rehabilitating the station started from scratch and within a record time, the current results were reached at the lowest possible costs and with exceptional expertise.

Engineer Iyad Hazzouri, director of the transfer stations in Homs, explained that the station will contribute to improving the electricity situation in the northern countryside (Rastan and its countryside, Farhaniya, Ter Maaleh, Kafr Abd, Ghanto and Granada), indicating that the rehabilitation operations included a 66 kV line cell feeding from the Zara station and a 66 kV transformer cell.
