Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel affirmed that the United States lacks the moral legitimacy to talk about democracy, reiterating his condemnation of his country's exclusion from the Ninth Summit of the Americas held in Los Angeles.

In a speech to representatives of civil society in the capital, Havana yesterday, Kanel indicated that promoting democracy and human rights in the United States is an illusion, indicating that Washington is unable to guarantee the rights of its citizens on its soil.

“In the United States, there are no guarantees of basic health services and the sale of weapons takes precedence over children’s rights or access to education,” Cannell said, denouncing the manifestations of racism, discrimination and the use of the term democracy for political purposes.

The Cuban president described the Ninth Summit of the Americas as a scene with a neo-colonial character, from which the United States excluded his country, Venezuela and Nicaragua, and stressed that the United States has the ability to prevent Cuba's presence in Los Angeles, but it does not have the power to silence its voice or hide the truth.

The Cuban government had earlier condemned the US decision to exclude Cuba, along with Venezuela and Nicaragua, from the Summit of the Americas, which is being held from the sixth to the tenth of this month in Los Angeles, stressing that this position is unjustified, arbitrary and undemocratic.
