Expensive things are in the making: According to the updated cost calculation, the construction of the gym in Neuhaus, which has finally begun, will cost Schliersee 10.3 million euros.

Really this time: Because of the construction of the gymnasium, the municipality of Schliersee has had to take out a loan for the first time in many years.

Probably six million euros.

In the budget that has now been passed, you will find some other notable sums in the millions as well as recently postponed projects.

Schliersee – The Schliersee finances are still in good shape at the moment.

The municipality closed the year 2021 with a whopping surplus.

Instead of 1.36, a whopping 3.96 million euros remained in the administrative budget, which reflects current business.

One reason was a so-called one-off effect in the trade tax, which brought the municipality additional income of 1.2 million - with the planned two million.

Mayor Franz Schnitzenbaumer (CSU) is not allowed to say who earned so much money for reasons of tax secrecy, but it does not take much imagination to suspect that real estate plays a role here.

Gym again a bit more expensive - 10.3 million euros

The corona-related closures, for example of Vitalwelt, reduced the costs for maintenance and operation by 1.3 million euros.

Schliersee can get over the fact that it has to do without 880,000 euros until further notice: interest-free deferrals, which the town hall granted, for example, to companies that had no income because of Corona.

At the end of the year, Schliersee was able to increase its reserves by one million to almost three million euros.

At the same time, the level of debt fell by 600,000 euros to 9.1 million.

The future looks a little bleak.

The construction of the gymnasium will be a bit more expensive, the community is currently expecting 10.3 million euros.

The orders for about eight million of them are wrapped up, according to the budget, a little more than 4.2 million euros are due this year.

This can no longer be managed through ongoing business.

According to the plan, 1.94 million euros remain.

The first thing to be done is to repay 630,000 euros.

Schliersee also has to pay for the last time this year for the general renovation of the Vitalwelt 14 years ago, namely 1.1 million euros.

The comparison with Monte Mare (we reported) is finally done, but taxes are added to the last estimate of 875,000 euros, explains Schnitzenbaumer on request.

The connection of the mountain huts on the Taubenstein to the water supply also runs through the budget of the municipality (we reported), but Schliersee will get the full million allocated this year back from the Free State and those who are connected.

The bottom line is that capital expenditures amount to 12.27 million euros, other major items:

Borrowing: Planned for years, but now unavoidable

Schliersee really can't avoid taking on debt this time.

Six million euros are planned.

The community is only using a small part of the reserves this year (almost 400,000 euros).

"We think that interest rates will rise in the long term," said Schnitzenbaumer in the municipal council.

So it is better to use the currently still cheap level.

An inheritance of 1.8 million euros is also very convenient for treasurer Heidi Riesenthal.

The money should have actually flowed in last year (we reported), but the lawsuit of the heirs, who only get their compulsory share, is still before the Federal Court of Justice.

Another 1.6 million euros come as investment grants from the federal and state governments.

Fire stations: new building and renovation postponed - partly until 2025

Other projects have to wait, especially in light of the construction of gymnasiums.

This primarily affects the fire service.

The new construction of the tool shed has been postponed to next year, the renovation of the building in Schliersee including the extension even to the year 2025. Schnitzenbaumer had already announced both for this year, but also made it clear that the administration was working on the edge of what is feasible.

According to the 2024 financial plan, municipal housing construction on Seestrasse ("group school") is to be tackled.

None of them are cheap projects, which is why borrowing is planned for the next few years.

According to long-term planning, the level of debt will rise to over 21 million.

"That could be scary, but ten years ago we also had a debt of 20 million euros," said Schnitzenbaumer.
