Funny art by the lake, cabaret stars in the monastery courtyard

Prominence at the 2022 Humor Festival: Gerhard Polt will appear on July 22nd in the Bernried monastery courtyard.

After the successful premiere in 2021, there will be a "Humor Festival Bernried" again this year.

From July 1, cartoons and a “laughing forest” will lure people to the lake shore, cabaret greats will give open air shows in the monastery courtyard – and the children will also get their money’s worth.

It has long been proven that it contributes significantly to health.

"Humor heals!" is the name of a specialist conference at Höhenried Castle, which sets out the scientific framework for the humor festival and develops "humor strategies" for care and therapy.

The rest of the festival is pure practice – an invitation to people of all walks of life and of all ages not to forget to laugh in tough times.

From July 1st to September 18th there will again be samples of comic art in beautiful locations in the open air and with free admission: a sculpture exhibition in the monastery garden, cartoons and funny sayings on large areas on Rathausplatz and of course the humor parcours with 30 works by 18 well-known nationwide Caricaturists on the sea route between the monastery and the Buchheim Museum.

There you can hear the artists themselves cackling in the “Lachwald”.

In all of this, there are significantly more contributions from women this time, promises Reinhard G. Wittmann from the “Forum Humor and Comic Art” association, which organizes the festival together with the municipality of Bernried and the Buchheim Museum.

While the latter pays homage to a master of comic painting - Rudi Hurzlmeier - in a large special show, the monastery courtyard becomes a meeting place for Bavarian cabaret celebrities: there are open air shows with Luise Kinseher (July 21), Gerhard Polt & "NouWellCousines" (July 22 ) and Maxi Schafroth (July 23).

In September Helmfried von Lüttichau and Bruno Jonas will appear in the Sommerkeller;

the cinema film "Rotzbub" by Manfred Deix will also be shown there.

Polt wanted a puppet theater festival

There is also a lot on offer for children at the humor festival this year.

For the first time, at the suggestion and under the patronage of Gerhard Polt, a puppet theater festival for the whole family will take place: On July 16th and 17th, "Kasperls Spuikastl", "Katis Kasperltheater", the puppet theater ZIRZOP and the theater workshop of Danijela Pöschl will present " Punch and Judy" to watch and participate.

Tickets for the Punch and Judy festival are only available from the Bernried community library from June 20th.

There are also workshops for children

In addition, renowned artists introduce interested children to making music, the art of drawing and inventing stories in a whole series of workshops.

These offers in the Buchheim Museum and in the community library are funded by the Beisheim Foundation.

You can tell: Bernried has every reason to smile again this year.

In its second year, the "Humour Forum" feels really at home in the community by the lake, is happy about the support of many volunteers - and about a good spirit, as Wittmann reports: "Here it's never 'can't be done'.
