A nocturnal trip to the landscape park in Unterhaching has serious consequences for a Munich resident: the 21-year-old not only crashed his BMW there, but has now also been charged with an illegal motor vehicle race.

Unterhaching – The incident happened, according to the police, on Wednesday around 10:45 p.m.

Accordingly, the 21-year-old BMW driver from Munich and another still unknown driver fought an illegal car race on the main connecting route of the landscape park, the former runway, which leads from Unterhaching to Neubiberg.

It is not yet fully clear how the two drivers got into the landscape park.

They may have driven through an open barrier from Unterhaching to the popular leisure area.

Lost control of car while drifting

During the illegal frenzy on the site, the 21-year-old probably tried to drift with his BMW at the point where the landscape park crosses the motorway.

He lost control of his vehicle, which was thrown into the adjacent meadow and crashed into one of the concrete blocks that are set up there as seating.

The force of the impact threw the BMW back onto the runway, along with debris from the concrete block.

The accident driver was not injured.

According to the police, his vehicle was a total loss of around 10,000 euros.

The police estimate the additional damage caused by the 21-year-old to be around 500 euros.

Second driver escaped

When police arrived, the second driver had already fled.

The person who caused the accident, who had no alcohol in his blood, had his driver's license and the vehicle keys taken away.

He was reported for illegal motor vehicle racing.
