Today, about 40 boys and girls participated in the cultural journey that was organized by the Life Skills Team in the Directorate of Culture in cooperation with the Directorate of Antiquities and Museums in Homs to Al-Zahrawi Palace and the Ottoman Bath, passing through the covered market.
Head of the Children’s Department at the Homs Culture Directorate, Saba Wasef, indicated in a statement to SANA’s reporter, the directorate’s keenness to organize meaningful activities for children during the summer, especially those that introduce them to their city and its historical roots and strengthen their affiliation and love for it.
In turn, Therese Lyon, a specialist in archeology for children, gave an overview of archeology and the importance of preserving it and its connection with most sciences, and what are the transferred and fixed monuments.
Lyon provided a detailed explanation of the history of Al-Zahrawi Palace, the period to which it dates back, and the architectural style that characterizes it.
The walk concluded with a visit to the Ottoman bath in the old city, where the children learned about the old channels in it and the mechanism for heating water in it.
A number of children expressed their happiness at participating and how much useful and new information they got during the trip.
