La Strada Bremen begins: Magic on the city streets

La Strada Bremen starts today.

Artists, musicians and other cultural workers will be out and about on the streets of Bremen for a weekend.

As always, the program is diverse.

Bremen – Dance, acrobatics and music: From Thursday, June 9, 2022, there will be a lot of activity on the streets of Bremen again for a weekend.

Numerous ensembles are expected at eight venues - a colorful and diverse La Strada program for visitors.

La Strada Bremen: Ensembles from nine countries in Bremen

A total of more than 15 ensembles from nine countries will be making guest appearances in Bremen over the weekend.

Most of them would have been there two years ago if the pandemic hadn't put many artists on forced break.

At eight venues in Bremen, La Strada now wants to enchant people again in the old festival form.

The cultural workers will give 69 performances.

Among them on the Deichwiese, in the Bremen Shakespeare Company and of course on the Bremen market square.

Diverse: The street festival La Strada in Bremen has always been characterized by a wide variety of performances.

In 2014, the Bremen theater group "Blaumeier" performed disguised as pigs.

La Strada Bremen program: Mécanique Vivante will kick off the street festival

On Thursday, June 9, 2022, La Strada will officially open with the French artist group Mécanique Vivante.

At 8:30 p.m., we leave the Weser Terraces in the direction of the art tunnel along the Weser.

A vehicle weighing several tons is pulled by the artists.

Meter-high sirens are mounted on it, from which music sounds.

Shows at eight venues: Swedish joungleur on Friday at La Strada

On Friday, June 10, 2022, La Strada will begin in many corners of Bremen.

Johan Wellton from Sweden will open the day at 5:45 p.m. on the meadow stage behind the Bremer Kunsthalle.

The juggler amazes with a funny stage show in which he uses everything imaginable to throw.

Compagnie Daad from the Netherlands will also perform at La Strada for the first time this year on Friday.

The ensemble has come up with something for children: Compagnie Daad has converted kettcars into ominous prehistoric insects in which they chauffeur volunteers.

On Friday at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., Saturday at 1 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. and 3:45 p.m. they will present their companions to the public at the “Walecke” behind the Kunsthalle.

Magic from Sweden: Magician Charlie Caper can be seen regularly on the meadow stage

A gifted magician from Sweden will be there all weekend.

Charlie Caper amazes with classic magic tricks and new effects.

He performs regularly on the Wiesenbühne, namely on Friday at 7.45 p.m. and 10.45 p.m., on Saturday at 1.30 p.m. and 5.45 p.m. and on Sunday at 12.30 p.m. and 4 p.m.

The Wiesenbühne is located behind the Bremer Kunsthalle between Altenwall and Osterdeich.

La Strada 2022: acrobatics and dance on Bremen's market square

On the other hand, Chris Iris from Germany, Company Chameleon from England and Jessica Arpin from Switzerland will enchant the audience on the Bremen market square.

The group Chris Iris tries an acrobatic interplay of two different bodies.

Because the two acrobats are 42 centimeters tall and weigh 42 kilograms.

Company Chameleon, on the other hand, tries to meet each other powerfully.

The male duet from Manchester offers intense dance theatre.

In addition, Jessica Arpin will try to captivate the audience with top-class bicycle artistry.
