Palestine's permanent representative to the United Nations, Riyad Mansour, renewed his call on the international community to assume its responsibilities and pressure the Israeli occupation to stop the demolition of Palestinian homes and properties in grave violation of international law.
And the Palestinian Wafa news agency quoted Mansour as saying that “more than a thousand Palestinians, most of whom are children and women, are at risk of forced displacement as a result of settler colonialism and the imposition of apartheid measures, noting that the international community’s failure to implement its relevant resolutions encouraged the occupation to commit its violations and impunity.”
Mansour explained that 12 Palestinian communities in the town of Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron, face the nightmare of imminent forced displacement by forcibly expelling 1,200 Palestinians, most of them children and women, from their homes and seizing their land with the aim of settlement expansion or military bases, which constitutes a war crime that must be categorically condemned and effective action taken to stop it.
The Israeli occupation authorities demolished at dawn today a Palestinian building consisting of four apartments in the city of Beit Jala, west of Bethlehem in the West Bank.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) confirmed in its report two days ago that the occupation had demolished 300 buildings in the West Bank since the beginning of this year to expand settlement operations that constitute a violation of international law.
