Update from June 8, 4:55 p.m .:
The fatal shots at a woman in an Aldi supermarket in Schwalmstadt in northern Hesse are, according to initial investigations, a relationship act.
Police in Homberg said the 58-year-old gunman, who shot himself, had been in a relationship with the 53-year-old victim between late 2021 and early 2022.
According to the police on Wednesday, the woman ended the relationship.
It is assumed that the separation was the motive for the crime.

Already on Monday evening (June 6th), i.e. one day before the crime, there was a police operation on the woman.
The 58-year-old, who was staying in his ex-girlfriend's apartment, was sent off.
He complied with this.
On Tuesday morning, after a consultation, the woman filed a complaint against the 58-year-old for assault, coercion and stalking.
Her interrogation had not revealed any signs of a specific threat.
On Tuesday afternoon, the 58-year-old shot the 53-year-old and then himself in a supermarket in Schwalmstadt. Other people were not injured.
Alerted emergency services found the two dead in the shop.
There was no evidence of other people being involved in the incident.

The police and public prosecutor initially gave no information about the relationship between the two dead and their origin.

.: Shots were fired at around 1 p.m. in an Aldi discounter in Schwalmstadt in northern Hesse.
Alerted emergency services found two dead in the market.
According to the statements of witnesses, a man (58) shot a woman (53) in the supermarket and then apparently took his own life, the police said.

After initial investigations, the police have ruled out third-party involvement.
During the operation, the police announced via Twitter that there was no danger to other people or the population.
Other people were not harmed according to current investigative findings.
The investigation would continue at full speed.
The crime scene was cordoned off.
A support center for witnesses and those affected has been set up on site.

Schwalmstadt – Two people were killed in a grocery store in Schwalmstadt-Treysa.
This was confirmed by the local police.
"There are currently no indications of danger to the population or bystanders," the police tweeted.
The area around a discounter is currently cordoned off.
The police are on site with a large number of emergency services.
The shots were fired on Tuesday (June 7) in a grocery store on Wierastrasse at around 1:06 p.m.
