The Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor in Lattakia governorate inaugurated today the handmade carpets hall in the Rural Development Center in Beit Yashout and the crochet department in the Rural Industries Unit in Dalia in Jableh countryside.
The handmade carpet hall benefits between 25 and 30 women from the families of martyrs and families with low incomes, while the crochet section provides a job opportunity for 24 young women and women to help rural women improve their living situation.
During the opening of the hall and the section, the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Muhammad Seif El-Din, pointed out, in a statement to reporters, the importance of small rural projects, pointing to the support provided by the Ministry to empower families and secure livelihoods by organizing free training courses for various handicrafts and signing production contracts with trainees after their end.
The Director of the Rural Development Center in Beit Yashout, Suzan Saeed, spoke about the center, which consists of 3 sections, a carpet hall that was inaugurated today, a health center and a kindergarten that is under maintenance. It is expected to open at the beginning of the school year in symbolic installments and accommodate about 100 boys and girls, noting the great attention given by the government Rural development projects based on agriculture and handicrafts, which contribute to creating job opportunities and improving living and economic reality.
For her part, Head of the Handmade Carpet Factory Department, Haifa Hassan, stated that the beneficiaries of the project underwent a 6-month training course prior to the opening of the hall, noting that another hall is under preparation in order to provide training and work opportunities for the largest possible number of women wishing to develop their skills in manual work.
In the crochet department of the Rural Industries Unit in Dalia, the trainer Maysa Hassan indicated that the Directorate of Social Affairs and Labor in the governorate provided wool, hooks and other raw materials to the beneficiaries so that they would be able to support their families and work in their homes according to their family circumstances.
The Minister of Social Affairs' tour also included a visit to the Al Raha Home for the Elderly of the Mercy Christian Society, where he listened to an explanation of the services and care provided by the home and the demands of its residents.
