A 67-year-old former history and geography teacher was sentenced this Thursday, June 9 in Auch to two years in prison, one of which was suspended, for sexual assaults on four of his 5th graders.

The criminal court of Auch, which went beyond the requisitions of the prosecution, also prohibited him from exercising in contact with children for a period of five years.
He will also be subject to an obligation of care.
The sentence being adjustable, he should therefore have an electronic bracelet under the supervision of the sentence enforcement judge.
For Marie Gomes, one of the lawyers for the civil parties, "
the court was able to make sense of things and retain the voice of the children
".

The former teacher, who denies everything outright, was indicted and placed under judicial supervision in March 2019 for counts of "
sexual assault on minors under the age of 15
" after several complaints from his students.
He had stopped practicing at that time.
On April 14, at the hearing, the prosecution had requested an 18-month suspended prison sentence, a ban on carrying out any activity related to minors for five years, compensation for victims and an obligation of care.
After the hearing, the defense said it was "
very satisfied with the requisitions
", while considering that "
the case deserved a total release
".
