The easing of health restrictions will allow many French people to take full advantage of the summer holidays, but we sometimes lack

Our guide to a successful holiday

  • Camping, renting, traveling… there’s an ideal stay for everyone

  • Tips to lighten the bill on the road

  • The option of itinerant tourism

  • We tested the regional train between Bordeaux and Sarlat

  • Our original destinations in Europe

  • Pay for your vacation in instalments

This summer, half of the French intend to leave.

The pandemic seems behind us and, after two years of mask, everyone wants to find the taste of “normal” holidays.

However, since 2019, habits have changed, tastes too.

More and more, we vary the pleasures, between family stays and solitary getaways, camping and rental with individuals, idleness and hiking.

And it's not too late to book.

We asked several families to give us their tips for their accommodation, in a mobile home, in a private home or in holiday residences, for example.

They told us about solutions adapted to different budgets, different ages too.

The price is the main obstacle preventing the French, who are experiencing an unprecedented rise in inflation, from going on vacation.

Good plans are still possible, and it is often possible, on the sites of tour operators, to finance your project in several installments.

Traveling in a motorhome or camper van also reduces costs.

We also provide you with some tips for reducing the bill on the road, by adopting the right driving gestures, avoiding traffic jams and choosing side roads rather than the highway.

So that the journey is also a pleasure.

Let yourself be surprised

And for those who put off the use of the car, but who are on the move, there are a plethora of alternatives: cruises with friends on the Midi or Burgundy canals, hiking or horseback riding... and, why not, a journey by TER to discover our beautiful regions.

It is always the promise of unusual discoveries and original walks, in the trend of "slow tourism".

Let yourself be carried away.

The only limit is the imagination!

This year again, many will take the direction of the sun, towards the beaches of Spain, Italy or Greece.

We have chosen three unusual destinations in Europe: Serbia, with its festive capital and its wild forests, the Spain of the lands and its deserts which evoke the films of Sergio Leone or even… Luxembourg, the Balcony of Europe, with its free public transport.

Here again, follow our advice for a successful stay.
