A resident of Petah Tikva, in his 60s, was detained this evening (Thursday) for questioning as part of an examination of the circumstances of locating his lifeless wife in their apartment in the city.
Investigators from the Petah Tikva police station opened an investigation, upon receiving the report of the woman who was found lifeless when her husband was present at the scene.
The forensic laboratory mobile arrived at the apartment and began collecting findings from the scene.
The deceased will be transferred to the Institute of Forensic Medicine.
Apparently the husband called a relative and told her his wife was dead and she called the police.
The police say that when they arrived at the apartment, the husband was sitting in the living room, smoking a cigarette and drinking alcohol and told them that she had been dead since the morning.
Police are considering bringing him to court tomorrow, requesting an extension of his detention.
An MDA spokesman said: "At 19:31, a report was received at MDA's 101 hotline in the Yarkon area about an unconscious woman on Herzl Street in Petah Tikva. MDA medics and paramedics report a 65-year-old woman with no signs of life and determine her death."
MDA paramedic Liz Gorel said: "When they entered the apartment, we saw the woman unconscious.
We performed medical tests but she was without signs of life and we have no choice but to determine her death. "
