(CNN Spanish) --
The Attorney General's Office of the state of Veracruz reported this Wednesday that it accused a new detainee of the murder of two journalists, which occurred in May, of qualified intentional homicide.
In a statement, the Mexican entity identified the detainee as Víctor Manuel "N", "El Calaco", and added that a judge sent him to preventive detention.
CNN is trying to find out if the accused has legal representation and how he pleads before the charges.
CNN has asked the Prosecutor's Office for more details about the possible motive for the crime or the link between the detainee and the victims, but so far we have not received a response.
The murdered journalists were the director of the El Veraz news website, Yessenia Mollinedo Falconi, and the reporter Sheila Johana García Olivera, in an incident that occurred on May 9 in the municipality of Cosoleacaque.

A few days later, the Prosecutor's Office reported that it had released a person who had been arrested in the case and that when validating the identity of that suspect, it was determined that it was a mistake due to homonymy, or the same name.
So far this year, at least nine journalists have been killed in Mexico, according to a CNN tally of Article 19 data.
This Thursday, the Undersecretary of Public Security of Mexico, said at a press conference that for the crimes of journalists, 26 arrest warrants have already been arrested or issued and that 17 people have been sent to trial.
