Following a petition to the High Court of Justice: The Ministry of Economy abolished the gender discrimination that was customary in obtaining eligibility

Significant achievement for women studying Torah: For

the first time, women's Torah studies will be recognized as eligible for a subsidy from the day care centers of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Labor, in contrast to a situation that has existed for decades, according to which only a man studying Torah receives a subsidy.

As part of a petition to the High Court filed by the Atim organization on behalf of several seminaries for Torah study and private women, the Ministry of Economy announced that support tests would be changed - and that Torah studies would be recognized as subsidized studies, whether mother or father.

The petition was filed on behalf of ten women students and five well-known seminaries in religious Zionism, in which women study Torah as a career: Lindenbaum, Demand, Soul, Migdal Oz and Ein Hanatziv.

Petitioners' claim was that women who chose the world of Torah as their career channel are discriminated against in relation to other women who chose other career fields because they receive a subsidy during their studies while women of halakhah do not.

Although the two study tracks are employment-oriented in exactly the same way, the Torah studies of the male couple have been recognized, and those of the women have not.

In early June, support tests for the coming year were published, in which gender discrimination was abolished.

Atim expressed satisfaction with the significant victory, which includes the recognition of women studying Torah.

"This is a tremendous achievement for the world of Torah in general and for Torah studies in particular," said Adv. Ella Skaat and Adv. Meira Friedman from the legal department of Atim.
