“Fernsehgarten goes GNTM makeover episode”: Viewers have their hair cut live on ZDF

After her live makeover on the ZDF television garden, this 19-year-old viewer has a whole new look.

The motto of the ZDF television garden on June 5 is "Trust yourself".

In addition to bungee jumping and eating locusts, some viewers dare to change their personality radically.

Lerchenberg, Mainz – The viewers of the ZDF television garden (all news on the topic page) will be asked on Pentecost Sunday (June 5th, 2022) to jump over their own shadow.

Under the motto "Trust yourself", the spectators go through nerve-racking tests of courage: Some jump with the bungee cord, others shine with the karaoke microphone in front of an audience of millions.

And a few brave ones even dare to use the barber's chair.

For many people, their own appearance is an emotional issue.

In the case of a radical change, one or two tears can flow - "But hopefully only tears of joy," says Fernsehgarten hairdresser Hatice.

In front of the camera, she cuts off the long hair of a 19-year-old.

Presenter Andrea Kiewel cannot understand at all that the high school graduate is separating from her long braid.

"You're not serious," she says to the young woman, shaking her head.

"It takes forever for the hair to grow back.

Don't do it!” But the 19-year-old's decision cannot be shaken.

"Yes," she says with conviction.

The audience also thinks that the braid has to come off.

Enthusiastic clapping erupts from the ranks as Hatice cuts off the braid with large scissors.

But the change in type of the 19-year-old is not yet the highlight of the TV garden makeover.

After that, Kiewel goes in search of another courageous person.

"Who wants to go bald?" She calls out to the audience.

And indeed: a man answers.

His own bachelor party has ended up in the TV garden.

He spontaneously seizes the opportunity to shave his head.

When he sits down on the chair, he is enthusiastic: "Thank you for the moment!"

Overall, the situation is strongly reminiscent of the model show "Germany's Next Top Model", in which the participants' hair is obligatorily cut - often in tears.

Another test of courage from the ZDF television garden reminds viewers of a well-known program: When grasshoppers with strawberries are offered, some ask themselves: “Is this the jungle camp now?”
