A dream is coming true for the volleyball players in Herrsching: The Bundesliga club will be playing international games for the first time in the coming season in Munich's Audi Dome.

It was a step that otherwise only found its place in fan chants and was considered an eternal dream, now it is becoming reality: WWK Volleys Herrsching will start internationally in European competitions in the coming 2022/2023 season.

– It's still quiet on the transfer market at WWK Volleys Herrsching.

For this, the Ammersee announced that they will start in the European competition in the coming season.

"It is really unbelievable that we are now able to take this step", Managing Director Max Hauser is quoted as saying in the press release.

"We've dreamed of this for a long time.

This is something very big for us.” This next step is also possible thanks to the sponsors, above all the insurance company that gave the company its name.

"International means more games, more travel, more costs."

For the coming 2022/2023 season, the German Bundesliga has received more starting places due to the exclusion of Russian teams.

The Berlin Recycling Volleys (champion), VfB Friedrichshafen (runner-up) and for the first time the Powervolleys Düren represent Germany in the Champions League.

Whether Herrschinger will play in the second-class CEV Cup or in the third-class CEV Challenge Cup is not yet clear.

The only thing that is certain is that the first game on the European stage will take place on October 11th.

By participating in a European competition for the first time, the WWK Volleys want to further strengthen the new location in Munich and make it more attractive.

"With the top international games, we can set a few highlights in the Audi Dome in addition to the Bundesliga," says Hauser.

In the previous season, the Herrschinger could have played internationally, but did not do so at the time due to the uncertain Corona situation.

But this year they dare to take the step to Europe.

With a bit of luck, new coach Thomas Ranner's team could have an interesting away trip to the heart of Eastern Europe or the Mediterranean.

For example, Power Volleys Düren played in Soligorsk in Belarus and against Galatasaray Istanbul in the previous season.
