After there had been no citizens' meeting in Hohenpeissenberg in the past two years due to the corona, one was held again.

Among other things, the visitors were presented with the results of the citizen survey on the new town centre.

Hohenpeissenberg - Less than in the years before Corona, but still around 100 visitors came to the "House of Associations" for the Hohenpeissenberg town hall meeting.

Mayor Thomas Dorsch reported on the local development.

On December 31, 2021, 3867 citizens had their main residence in Hohenpeissenberg and 217 their secondary residence.

The municipality has 4084 inhabitants.

192 moved and 201 moved away, there were 31 births, 20 marriages and 38 deaths.

196 foreigners from 41 nations are currently registered and 30 Ukrainian refugees are living in Hohenpeissenberg, said Dorsch.

Municipality pays around 500,000 euros per year for daycare centers

Last year, 2021, there were 56 burials in the Hohen Peißenberg cemetery, of which 38 were urn burials and 18 were earth burials.

Currently 328 businesses are registered in the village.

Last year, 40 new businesses were registered and 24 deregistered.

“We survived the Corona years well.

We are now above the corona level," said Dorsch.

He would like to thank everyone who shops in town and takes local businesses into account.

"See that we stick together in town."

According to the provisional statement of accounts at the end of 2021, the level of reserves was around 865,000 euros and the level of debt was 2,824,000 euros.

According to this, with a statistical population of 3827, there was a per capita debt of 738 euros.

Sustainability instead of demolition

The municipality currently pays around 500,000 euros per year for its childcare facilities – not including the maintenance costs for the buildings.

Because the need for childcare places has increased in recent years, the municipality bought the former savings bank building in the center of town and is currently converting it into a children's home, which is not an easy task, said Dorsch.

It would have been easier to demolish the old building and build a new one, but in the interests of sustainability, the municipality has decided to take the more complicated route.

How should the through road be designed?

In addition, the visitors were presented with the results of the citizen survey on the design of the new town centre.

Graduate engineer Annegret Michler from the office "Die Stadtentwicklung", which carried out and evaluated the survey, came to Hohenpeissenberg for the citizens' meeting for this reason.

"We were amazed at how many people took part.

It was the survey with the most participants in recent times," said the architect.

451 citizens had expressed their opinion, 434 online and 17 on paper.

There were exciting approaches that are important for a town center to function.

among other things, it was suggested to check whether there could be a weekly market on the church square.

It was important to the majority of respondents to keep the town center green, to create a cycle and footpath concept, to take traffic-calming measures and to ensure that pedestrians and especially children can cross the main street safely.

In the end, these were preparatory measures, said Dorsch after the performance.

It is a long process that has now started.

"At the end of this process, we should come to the conclusion of how we can design our through-road," the mayor concluded.
