Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro stressed that Iran's initiative to send fuel to Venezuela in light of the embargo imposed on it has provided great assistance to the Venezuelan people, noting the two countries' partnership in the battle against colonialism and hegemony.

"The relations of brotherhood and solidarity between Iran and Venezuela are solid because we consider ourselves partners in the battle for a new world order free of colonialism and hegemony," Maduro said in a statement to Iran's Hispan TV channel.

The Venezuelan president indicated that Iran and Venezuela share common goals in combating colonialism, imperialism and racial discrimination.

Maduro indicated that "the arrival of Iranian ships to Venezuela came at a time when the work of 4 of our refineries was suspended due to economic terrorism imposed by the United States."

In 2020, Iran sent five Iranian-flagged oil tankers to Venezuela, despite US threats.

The Venezuelan president indicated that the two countries intend to sign a road map between them for a period of 20 years, which will be a new start in relations between the Iranian people and the peoples of South America, in addition to direct flights between Caracas and Tehran and the development of cooperation between them in the tourism sector.

The Venezuelan President arrived in Tehran today at the head of a high-level political and economic delegation to hold talks with his Iranian counterpart Ibrahim Raisi.
