As reported by the Ukrainian Ministry of the Interior
Russia fired mortars and artillery at the border area near Chernihiv in Sumy Oblast.
According to Kyiv, more than 20 explosions have been registered in the Novhorod-Siverskyi region.
So far, no casualties have been reported.
Chernihiv, with around 280,000 inhabitants, is located almost 150 kilometers north-east of the capital Kyiv.
Russian troops in front of Bakhmut: transport hub in the Donbass is heavily contested
Update from June 10, 1:45 p.m .:
According to Ukrainian information, Russian troops are advancing in the Donbass.
The invaders are now standing in front of the Bakhmut transport hub, sources in Kyiv say.
Thus, supplies for the administrative center Sievjerodonetsk could be cut off.
The city, which once had 100,000 inhabitants, has been the subject of fierce fighting in the Luhansk region for weeks.
"The enemy attacked in the direction of Vozdvyschenka - Roty, was partially successful and is establishing itself at the positions taken," said the Ukrainian General Staff in its situation report on Friday.
The villages mentioned are only about ten kilometers south-west of Bachmut.
The city, which used to have around 70,000 inhabitants, is geographically located exactly between the major cities of Donetsk, Luhansk, Severodonetsk and Kramatorsk.
Artillery fire can be fired at various transport routes in the Donbass from here.
So far, the Russian troops had tried in vain to advance in the direction of Kramatorsk.

Fierce fighting between the Russian invasion troops and the Ukrainian defenders continues to rage in the Donbass.
The deputy head of the Ukrainian military intelligence service, Vadym Skibitsky, warned in an interview with the British “Guardian” that Ukraine lacks artillery ammunition.

For every Ukrainian artillery unit there are 10 to 15 Russian artillery positions.
"This is now an artillery war," Skibitsky is quoted as saying by the British newspaper.
His country is almost exclusively dependent on Western arms supplies and needs more ammunition for howitzers and other guns.

Ukraine News: According to Moscow, Kyiv lost 480 soldiers in one day
Just two days ago, on June 8, the Russian side announced heavy losses among Ukrainian fighters in the battles for Donbass in eastern Ukraine.
Overall, Ukraine (in all combat zones combined) lost more than 480 soldiers within 24 hours.

The Ministry of Defense in Moscow also mentioned rocket attacks on a tank factory in Kharkiv.
In addition, several command posts and troop concentrations as well as positions of rocket launchers with air-to-surface missiles were fired at around the metropolis.
However, the Ukrainian General Staff reported earlier this month that the enemy had gone on the defensive in Kharkiv in the north as well as in the south of the country.
