Washington-Sana

US police announced today that they shot dead a person who tried to enter an elementary school in the southeastern state of Alabama.

ABC News quoted a police official, Jonathan Horton, as saying that an officer at the Rainbow City Police Department encountered an unidentified person trying to enter Walnut Park Elementary School, and a quarrel broke out between them in the school garden, where an assistant officer shot and killed the suspect, but the official did not indicate. Whether the suspect was armed or not, or the reason for rushing to shoot him.

Gadsden School Principal Tony Riddick told reporters that an unknown person tried to open several doors at Walnut Park Primary School, where students and staff were inside the summer school.

This incident comes after the controversy that prevailed in the United States following the crime of Robb Elementary School in Texas, which killed 21 people, including 19 children, last May.

Also yesterday, three people were killed when a gunman opened fire on his colleagues in a factory in the northern state of Maryland, USA.
