A celebration and a premiere

The tension is rising among the volunteers from the Steinebach-Auing volunteer fire brigade.

The 125th anniversary festival weekend that has been planned for years can finally take place.

Among other things, a joust is planned in the marquee.

It starts next Wednesday, June 15th.

– So much organizing, and then doing it twice and three times over: Strictly speaking, the Steinebach-Auing volunteer fire department has been working on the program for their 125th anniversary celebration since 2017, which is due in 2020. “We started three years before the first date in 2020 , because we wanted to ask the artists in good time,” says commander Florian Gebauer.

The firefighters then had to postpone the big break twice because of the pandemic, find a new date, hire artists, exchange tickets.

Finally the party starts.

From Wednesday, June 15th to Sunday, June 19th, there will be a joyful state of emergency in Steinebach around the fire station, fairground and tent.

Signs carved out of wood at the town entrances have been spreading the word about the festival for a few weeks now.

The signs were carved by the volunteers themselves – just like they do everything to do with the festival.

"With us, every manager is committed," reports Gebauer.

It doesn't matter whether it's members of the association around the chairman Gottfried Aumiller, or the active members of the fire brigade - everyone is already in the event fever.

The floor panels for the marquee opposite the fire brigade in Steinebach have long been ready, the program is complete.

Gebauer is relieved that the artists also found time on the new date.

It should be just as fun in the marquee.

There is also a jousting that takes place there.

"The first in the district in a marquee," Gebauer and Andreas Sperling are convinced of that.

A basin is installed in the marquee and filled with water.

Wooden boards are then placed on two car tires, on which the participants can then duel.

"But we probably don't use poles as long as in the video," says Sperling.

Sperling and a team of 15 made the film back in 2019.

In November and at ten degrees water temperature.

That's funny to look at.

Of course there is also a chronicle of the big festival.

After all, it's all about the 125th birthday of the local fire brigade.

There was already a mandatory fire brigade in Steinebach in 1881.

The Steinebach fire brigade was founded on July 14, 1895 with 31 men at the time, according to the chronicle.

Among the founding members in 1895 were board members Ulrich Aumiller and commander Balthasar Aumiller.

The rescue workers were able to celebrate in the past.

They celebrated their 40th anniversary with a large demonstration exercise involving the Etterschlag and Walchstadt fire brigades.

That was in 1935. In 1966 the hose tower was added to the existing tool shed.

For the 75th anniversary, the new fire station was inaugurated.

The first women's group was there in 1978, nine years later the youth fire brigade was founded.

Hans Well and the Wellbappn are also full of anticipation.

Well, father of the Wellbappn with Tabea, Sara and Jonas Well, was in Steinebach many years ago, back then with the Biermösl-Blosn.

Of course, it is clear that he will also target local politics at the cabaret evening on Saturday, June 18th.

"I've already sent my informal employees to write a well-founded text," he says with a wink.

It probably won't be dead serious, but it will still contain a bit of truth - just as you're used to from the Well family.

The Wells will happily take turns with Luise Kinseher in the marquee.

"Luise does something there and then we, alternating like we did on the evenings with Gerhard Polt." Incidentally, Hans Well knows Wörthsee very well.

After all, he lives in Türkenfeld and regularly goes there in the morning to go swimming:

For the festival weekend, at least in Steinebach, the tranquility at the lake will be over for a short time.

The neighbors are informed.

"And I think many are happy for us that we can finally celebrate," says Gebauer.
