The participants in the annual conference of the Bar Association discussed the work plan of the Bar Council for the current year and the mechanism for developing work in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice in terms of holding periodic meetings with the Ministry to discuss litigation matters and the lawyers’ observations and the difficulties they encounter.

During the two-day conference, which started today in the Cham Hotel in Damascus, the participants demanded an increase in the percentage established in the Judicial Authority Law in terms of appointing judges from among lawyers, to become half of the vacant owners instead of a quarter.

The participants in the conference, which will be held under the slogan, “The homeland is for everyone, we defend it all with what we can and own,” called for the speedy restoration of the palaces of justice that have been sabotaged by terrorism in a number of governorates, and not to publish the texts of the laws in force in books except after the written approval of the Ministry and its scrutiny.

The participants emphasized that the competent authorities should submit the final two draft laws regulating the legal profession and retirement to the legislative authority for study and approval.

Minister of Justice Judge Ahmed El-Sayed indicated that lawyers faced during the war on Syria the campaigns of misinformation and falsification spread by the enemies of truth and truth, stressing their role in defending Syria's rights.

Al-Sayed stressed that Decree No. 7 of 2022 granting a general amnesty for terrorist crimes committed by Syrians before the date 4-30-2022 constituted a conciliatory basis and an advanced initiative for the return of the Syrian body as a solid structure, and gave the opportunity to those who were strayed to return and complete their path in life within their homeland and to contribute to the stage of re-establishment. Construction and construction.

In her speech, a member of the National Command of the Arab Socialist Baath Party, Head of the Office of Popular Organizations and Professional Syndicates, Engineer Hoda Al-Homsi, indicated that Syria emerged from the terrorist war that was waged against it for more than ten years strong and victorious, and taught the world that Syria is unbeatable and invincible.

Al-Homsi pointed out that the legal profession carries a lofty and sacred message, which is to achieve justice and protect the interests of citizens, pointing to the fruitful cooperation between the Bar Association and other unions, which would elevate and advance the profession.

For his part, the President of the Bar, Firas Fares, stated that the conference, which is being held in conjunction with the fiftieth anniversary of the union's founding, is a station to assess what has been accomplished and plan for the next year, stressing that strong unions participate in fortifying the state from inside and outside, which is one of the reasons for its prevention and strength.

The conference was attended by the President of the Supreme Constitutional Court, Jihad Al-Lahham, the President of the State Council, Judge Counselor Abdel Nasser Al-Dhalli, the representative of the Military Judiciary Department, Brigadier General Yazan Al-Homsi, the assistant general secretaries of the Bar Association in Egypt and Lebanon, a number of members of the People’s Assembly, and the branch secretary of the Arab Socialist Baath Party in Damascus and its countryside.
