Occupied Jerusalem - SANA

Eight new settlement plans for the Israeli occupation devour large areas of the West Bank, amid the international community’s ignoring of the Palestinians’ demands for the necessity of implementing UN resolutions and stopping settlements, which threatens to eliminate the possibility of establishing an independent Palestinian state on the line of June 4, 1967.

In a report published today on its website, the National Office for Land Defense and Settlement Resistance of the Palestine Liberation Organization stated that the occupation authorities announced six plans to establish 1208 settlement units on an area of 953 dunums in the West Bank to expand settlements built on the lands of the village of Al-Jib, northwest of occupied Jerusalem and Deir Istiya in Salfit. Al-Sawiya, Yatma and Al-Lubban Al-Sharqiah in Nablus.

The report indicated that the seventh plan includes the establishment of 528 new settlement units on the lands of the towns of Battir and Al Walaja in Bethlehem, indicating that it threatens to seize 520 dunums of Al Walaja lands and will lead to its complete isolation so that Palestinians enter and exit it through a military gate of the occupation.

The report pointed out that this scheme is the first stage of a scheme that the occupation intends to implement in three phases to establish 5,000 settlement units on an area of 26,000 dunums in the area between the cities of Jerusalem and Bethlehem, with the aim of creating geographical contiguity between its settlements there at the expense of the Palestinian lands that will be transformed into areas isolated from each other.

The report stated that the occupation authorities announced, in the eighth settlement plan, the seizure of more than 600 dunums planted with vines and olives from the lands of Tarqumiya town northwest of Hebron, in order to expand two settlements established in the town.

The report pointed out that the occupation forces seized the properties of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate in the Bab Al-Khalil area in the Old City of Jerusalem and demolished several houses in the towns of Beit Jala in Bethlehem and Al-Tawana in Hebron, while they handed demolition notices to a residential building that includes 12 homes in Silwan, south of Al-Aqsa Mosque and homes in a village Tabban in Hebron It also prevented farmers from accessing their lands in Qusra town in Nablus and burned large areas of agricultural lands in Rumana village in Jenin.

The report stated that the settlers continued their attacks on the cities and towns of the West Bank under the protection of the occupation forces, as they established a new settlement outpost on the lands of the towns of al-Lubban al-Sharqiya, south of Nablus and Sinjil, north of Ramallah, and stormed the areas of Masafer Yatta and Khallet al-Furn in Hebron and the villages of Jaba’a in Bethlehem, al-Nabi Saleh in Ramallah and Ezbet al-Tabib In Qalqilya, they attacked the Palestinians and their homes and properties.
