Bayrischzell – There are new plans for the village heating system in Bayrischzell.

The municipal council decided to award the project to a company.

The municipality of Bayrischzell actually wanted to become a shareholder in the village heating project.

But now the municipal councils decided against it in their most recent meeting in the town hall and withdrew from the project.

The village heating system in Bayrischzell has been under discussion for two years.

"Andreas Scharli from the Oberland energy transition said to me that this is very typical for such projects," explained Mayor Georg Kittenrainer in the municipal council.

Such projects are not unproblematic and take time.

Energy Crisis by Ukraine War Problem

But now the overall situation has changed.

On the one hand, the energy crisis caused by the Ukraine war is a strong argument in favor of the project, on the other hand, the costs for the construction have become extremely difficult to calculate.

"There's still a lot of public interest," he said.

However, the village heating system can no longer be built at the price that was then taken as the basis for the preliminary contracts.

"I'll be honest about that," the mayor said.

The prices cannot be maintained.

The original plan was to set up an operating company with two main shareholders and the municipality as a minority shareholder with a stake of between 10 and 20 percent.

In the meantime, a potential main shareholder has left the project, leaving only the Storr company and the municipality.

With the new share ratio of around 90:10, the municipality would have almost no say in the matter and a higher participation would not be possible either financially or from a legal point of view.

The management then proposed handing over the project to the Martin Storr company and only providing the location at the suspension lift for a lease and connecting the community's properties in the development area.

Martin Storr, who built a wood chip heating system for various customers in Geitau in 2009, for example, would like to set up a GmbH with three shareholders to operate the heating system.

"As a guarantee that the heating will continue to be operated if, for example, health problems arise," he explained to the Bayrischzell municipal councils.

He would like to implement the project as early as 2023.

There is currently a subsidy of 45 percent.

He expects a price increase of currently 20 percent.

"But in three to five years it will be much more expensive," he suspects.

Next, Storr is planning an information event to get as many citizens as possible involved in the heating project.

The municipal councils then unanimously decided to hand over the project to Martin Storr and to make the property available for the heating system at the Schwebelift car park.
