Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi affirmed that his country's foreign policy is based on cooperation with independent countries, pointing out that Iran has decided to confront Western sanctions and threats and move forward towards development.
Raisi said during a press conference held today with his Venezuelan counterpart Nicolas Maduro, who is visiting Tehran: "When a White House spokesman announces that the policy of maximum pressure has failed against Iran, he confirms the victory of the Iranian people...Resistance and steadfastness force the enemy to retreat."
Raisi added that the signing of the strategic cooperation agreement with Venezuela comes to develop cooperation between the two countries, and the opening of the air bridge between Tehran and Caracas will provide the ground for more economic cooperation, stressing that the two countries' relations are strategic and strong in several fields.
For his part, Venezuelan President Maduro affirmed that his country will triumph over external pressures, and said, "We benefit from the historical experience and the Iranian scientific movement," noting that there will be joint cooperation with Tehran in various sectors such as oil, banking, science and economy.
Maduro added: "On July 18, we will witness the opening of the direct air line between Tehran and Caracas," noting that through this air bridge, the two sides will be able to expand tourism cooperation.
Earlier today, in the presence of Presidents Raisi and Maduro, Iran and Venezuela signed an agreement for comprehensive strategic cooperation between the two countries for a period of 20 years.
