1. FC Magdeburg, who have been promoted to the second division, started training for the coming season on Saturday afternoon with eight newcomers.

The first session of coach Christian Titz and his team was followed by around 250 fans on the side pitch of the local MDCC Arena.

Magdeburg – So far, the promoted team has strengthened its defense in particular, with four of the newcomers joining the ranks.

Second-division-experienced Malcolm Cacutalua is supported by a number of young players with potential, such as the highly talented Jamie Lawrence, who joined the Elbe on loan from Bayern Munich II.

On the offensive, Magdeburg used, among other things, in the Dutch Eredivisie, brought in Mohamed El Hankouri from Groningen.

Despite being just under 25 years old, the winger has played in over 120 first division games.

All of the additions embody the game model that distinguished FCM last season: technically skilled, fast and strong in attack.

Florian Kath, Kai Brünker, Ole Hoch and Luka Sliskovic, who were still ailing, were absent from the start of training.

On June 18th, FCM will play their first test match at state league club Grün-Weiß Ilsenburg before heading to the training camp in Wesendorf, Lower Saxony, the following day.

The highlight of the pre-season is the test against first division club Union Berlin in the MDCC Arena on July 2nd.

On the weekend of July 15th to 17th, the FCM will start its everyday league work.
