Today, Spain witnessed a record high temperature not recorded in 20 years.
"The temperature reached 40 degrees Celsius in Seville and Cordoba," the Reuters news agency quoted the Meteorological Office in Spain as saying.
According to weather experts, the temperature could rise to 42 degrees Celsius in the Guadiana Valley in Extremadura and other areas in southern Spain at a later time.
Experts pointed out that a cloud of hot air coming from North Africa pushed the temperatures to this high, and that the suffocating heat wave could continue in most of Spain until the 15th of this month.
