With the aim of identifying the obstacles to work and searching for participatory solutions to advance the production process, Minister of Industry Ziad Sabbagh met today with a number of industrialists in Lattakia Governorate.

During the meeting, which was attended by the Governor of Lattakia, Eng. Amer Hilal, the industrialists presented the obstacles to their work during the current period in light of the shortage of oil derivatives, the increase in electrical rationing hours, and the difficulty of securing some production requirements necessary for their facilities as a result of limiting import licenses.

The industrialists demanded facilitating the licensing procedures and limiting them to the Directorate of Industry and the city council, facilitating the transit of olive oil from the production areas in the northern regions, and paying attention to training and rehabilitation in light of the lack of expertise and cadres, expanding the craft areas and providing their infrastructure requirements.

Minister Sabbagh indicated the priority of working to enhance the values ​​of production and investment, benefiting from the available capabilities in the industrialization process and supporting it, and looking forward to supporting agricultural industrialization in Lattakia Governorate by benefiting from its agricultural components, pointing out that work is being done to address some difficulties at the local level on a permanent basis in cooperation with local authorities in the governorates. .

Sabbagh indicated the importance of renewable energies projects in the industrial production process in light of the conditions that Syria is going through, especially during the next stage, and the efforts made to improve the electrical reality, which will be positively reflected on citizens in various regions, especially industrialists.

Sabbagh stressed that the ministry and the industrialists are one working group in the aspiration to find common solutions and exits for all work obstacles, pointing to the importance of paying attention to training and qualification and cooperating in this to find theoretical and practical programs.

Regarding the inappropriateness of prices for the high costs of production, Minister Sabbagh referred to the agreement with the Ministry of Internal Trade on a general framework that allows the industrialist to present real and actual costs of the product in order to obtain an appropriate price in return for it that guarantees an appropriate profit margin.

Sabbagh pointed out that the exit of the most important sources of foreign exchange in Syria as a result of the US and Turkish occupation of oil wells and wheat fields puts us in front of options to focus on importing basic materials and preferring them over other materials, pointing at the same time to the measures taken by the government to open export markets to the local product.

The meeting was attended by the Secretary of the Latakia branch of the Arab Socialist Baath Party, Engineer Haitham Ismail, member of the Executive Office of the Industry Sector Ali Youssef, Director of Industry and President of the Craftsmen Union.
