Minister of Industry Ziad Sabbagh stressed that the continuation of the production process despite the difficult circumstances is a firm evidence of the strong will of the Syrian workers to achieve the slogan (hope for work) and contribute to the advancement of the national economy.

In a statement to reporters, Minister Sabbagh expressed his appreciation for the workers' efforts and dedication in performing their duties to ensure the continuation of the production process in Lattakia factories.

The General Director of the Corporation, Mohsen Abido, gave an explanation of the production stages in the corporation’s factories, noting the efforts of workers, technicians, and administrations to rehabilitate and repair production lines and continue their operation despite the old machines and the difficulty of importing spare parts or installing new production lines due to unilateral coercive measures and the economic siege imposed on the Syrian people.

In the Lattakia Textile Company and the General Company for Cotton Yarns, Sabbagh explained that these companies complement each other and provide the national economy with basic and important materials and achieve additional resources for the state treasury, as it depends for its inputs on cotton, which is one of the strategic crops supported by the state to ensure the operation of all production cycles, starting from agriculture and ending with manufacturing. To achieve the highest added value, pointing out that what distinguishes these companies is the reliance on scientific aspects and quality management and their application on the ground through laboratories that have few counterparts in companies operating in this sector.

During the meeting of the Minister of Industry with the directors of the tobacco and spinning and weaving companies at the headquarters of the General Administration of the General Tobacco Corporation, discussions focused on the necessity of follow-up and scrutiny of investment plans, the shortage of employment, the status of seasonal or temporary workers, health insurance for workers, means of transportation, and the settlement of the real estate status of the concerned authorities in the ministry.
