The sequence caused reactions on social networks.

Invited to debate on the set of France 2 with the candidate of Nupes Sandrine Rousseau, after the publication of the results of the first round of the legislative elections, this Sunday, the PS mayor of Le Mans Stéphane Le Foll struggled to hide his frustration.

“Can you calm down?

“, he launched to the candidate of the 9th district of Paris, a sentence deemed sexist by some of the Internet users.

The former Minister of Agriculture of François Hollande was also immediately taken over by the presenter Anne-Sophie Lapix.

“No, we are not saying

Can you calm down

, we are respectful on this set”, she reacted.

“I will let the spectators appreciate the accuracy of this remark”, for her part launched Sandrine Rousseau.

On the web, many reactions consider the remark sexist, like Caroline de Haas.

So no Stéphane Le Foll, we are not going to calm down.

Stéphane Le Foll seemed to assume his words later on Twitter.

“The Nupes is aggressively derailing the public debate,” he wrote, believing that “when you want to govern you have to know how to keep your nerves”.

The elected ecologist who joined the ranks of the coalition led by Jean-Luc Mélenchon criticized the mayor of Le Mans for not supporting Nupes.

" Come !

Otherwise assume the fact of being liberal you too, (…) we have no time to lose with that today!

“, she had launched a little before.

Stéphane Le Foll announced on May 9 that he opposed the agreement between the Socialist Party and La France insoumise and that he would support the legislative elections of the PS candidates “out of agreement”.

"I am for the union but not for the merger, there are ideas that are different," he said.

His reaction on the France 2 set is reminiscent of that of Gérald Darmanin against journalist Apolline de Malherbe on RMC on February 8.

“Calm down Madam, it will be fine,” said the Minister of the Interior.

A sentence which had also been considered sexist and aggressive by part of the political class and many Internet users.
